Art Auction to Fight for Racial Justice: Expanded Edition

6/19- 6/22

The Art Auction for Racial Justice that we created as part of our newly announced Bay Area Animation Alliance (Baobab Studios, Tonko House, and Kuku Studios) inspired so many SF Bay Area artists that we've been overwhelmed with requests from the SF Bay Area animation community to participate.  We've decided to expand the auction to a 2nd 3 day auction, featuring original pieces from noteworthy artists in the Bay Area animation community.

All proceeds benefit the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI), an organization with a mission to end mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the U.S., to challenge racial and economic injustice, and to protect basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society.

Speaker series: Alvy Ray Smith

5/27/20

For our inaugural event, BAAA hosted a conversation with Dr. Alvy Ray Smith, Pixar’s co-founder and Dr. Jan Dul, one of the world's leading experts on ergonomics and creativity.  During his talk to the 3 studios, Smith said, “We had nothing like this when Ed and I were starting Pixar, there were no other CEO’s to even think about chatting with. I’m envious that you all get to start with a community,” said Dr. Alvy Ray Smith, “I hope that this is the beginning of a very long history for BAAA.”
